About Aore Island 

Aore Island is an island in Sanma ProvinceVanuatu.[1] It is located opposite Luganville on Espiritu Santo and has an area of 58 square kilometres (22 sq mi). The estimated terrain elevation above sea level is some 89 metres (292 ft).[2][3][4]

Aore's climate is humid tropical. The average annual rainfall is about 3,000 millimetres (120 in).

The Aore language and English and French is spoken on the island.

Tourism and plantations are Aore Islands main providers of employment and economic revenue. There are numerous resorts on the island catering to tourists, weddings, and baptisms. Aore Island is a base for wreck and reef diving; wrecks accessible to divers include those of SS President CoolidgeUSS Tucker, and MV Henri BonneaudRecreational fishing is a year-round activity.


Accommodation ranges from private island resorts to village island style bungalows, in between are boutique hotels, families and couples only resorts, dive lodges & self-contained apartments catering for every budget. 

On the mainland, hotels and resorts are clustered around the district centre of Luganville, whilst others are located along the eastern side of the island and offshore islands like Aore and Malo, exposing visitors to the stunning natural sceneries and attractions that dot Espiritu Santo and its islands, as hidden jewels of the South Pacific
